1.1 Project Overview

The high-speed Electrical train project represents a civilized shift in the means of transportation in Egypt, as the total length of the high speed trains system is about 2000 km nationwide, with the aim of establishing a modern network of express railways in Egypt linking 60 cities with trains that reach speeds of up to 230 km/h, while The operating speed of regional electric trains is 160 km/h, and the operating speed of electric fright Train is 120 km/h.
It is scheduled that the high-speed electric train system will serve 90% of the citizens, as it will serve millions of passengers daily, as well as transport millions of tons of goods annually.

1.2 Project Goals

The project enhances the state's strategy to establish sustainable and advanced transportation systems nationwide. It will also help stimulate economic growth in Egypt and transform it into a highly developed regional and global hub by facilitating the movement of goods through a fast, modern and safe means of transportation.
The high-speed train project contributes to reducing traffic congestion, achieving higher levels of safety for passengers, a better impact on the environment, aiding economic development, enhancing the infrastructure of the region, and helping to contain urban sprawl.
The fast electric train system, which will cover all parts of the Republic, contributes to reducing and shortening the travel time between the governorates for more than half the time that the citizen currently spends, whether through the old train network or through the current roads linking the governorates. The project will also contribute to the establishment of new logistical areas that serve all industrial areas.
